How Owl B Crafty was born…
When I think back on how this little business started an instant smile comes across my face. I started by doing a couple craft fairs with my momma. We would share a table and get to spend the whole day together catching up and engaging with people in our community. I valued this time more than anything. It was a connection with my mom- that I was so lucky to share.
A couple years into craft fairs my mom got diagnosed with breast cancer at 51 that unfortunately had already metastasized into her bones. She started treatment in March and brought the word superhero to the next level. During her treatment she totally upped her crafting game. Crocheting started to be one of the only things she could do without it hurting her body. I remember her whipping out a blanket in DAYS! All the grand kiddos got blankets that year for Christmas and we have never seen them so excited to be getting them from Grammie Gram.

Unfortunately after a long 2.5 years my mom lost her battle to cancer at 54. She was such a fighter but as much as I miss her terribly- I am so glad to see her not in so much pain.
This is when Owl B Crafty really came to be! My mom passed away Jan 2, 2018 and in March of that same year I decided I needed to do something more with this hobby. It was time to make this a business. I joked at the time that this was my “therapy” in the whole grieving process. I started by renting a room from a fellow crafter and holding craft nights. They were so fun and to my surprise sold out every time I posted. I was having so much fun teaching adults how to make some awesome crafts for their house all while having fun. After a couple months I decided it was time for my own studio! SCARY but oh so exciting! I rented a small studio space for about a year. It was so cute and was so fun to make my own. BUT it didnt have any storage and you all know a craft studio NEEDS storage. So it was time to find a bigger space.

We opened a new studio with LOTS of storage and it took off from there! We are able to offer space for birthday parties, private craft nights, in studio craft nights, kids camps and so much more!
So the biggest lesson I want you to gain out of all this is there is something to gain out of loss… While I can’t even begin to tell you how much I want my mom to see everything we have created and still be here crafting right beside me…… I know she is. She is guiding me through this all and throwing all those signs that this truly is the right path that I was made to take.
I can’t wait to share more of my journey along the way but for now I want to say THANK YOU. Thank you for following my page. Thank you for supporting the craft boxes and monthly subscriptions that we have so much creating together. Thank you for being YOU. I have enjoyed getting to know you guys and can’t wait to continue this journey with you all. SO much love to you all <3 -Vanessa
